5-Axis Drawing Arm

This project was created for the spring 2005 semester of the Principles of Engineering class at Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering by Zac Borden, Matt Donahoe, and Mark Cavolowsky. The goal of the project was simply to build a low speed USB device.

Although we considered a variety of different project ideas, we decided that anything we did needed to have a very large coolness factor. Additionally, our group had two mechanical engineers, so we wanted a project that would have a mechanical aspect as well. The 5 axis drawing arm was a perfect fit.

Our goal was to build a device that enabled the user to write and manipulate objects in three dimensions.
